Fire and Rescue personal protective equipment
Redcliff Municipality wants fire and rescue protective equipment for 26 firefighters — surcoats and leggings, fire boots, helmets with visors, gloves, goggles, caps, belts and four proximity suits. Bids close 9 October 2026 at 08:00 CAT.
Redcliff Municipality is buying personal protective equipment for its fire and rescue service, delivered to the municipality within ten days on internally generated funds. The kit is for 26 firefighters: 26 sets of surcoats and leggings, 26 pairs of fire boots, 26 helmets with visors, 26 goggles, 26 firefighter caps, 26 pairs of gloves, 26 belts, and 52 units described as shipsoe at two pairs each. Four asbestos suits — the older term for fire proximity suits — complete the order. Two things stand out for a bidder. No standard is cited anywhere, and firefighting PPE is normally specified against EN or equivalent standards with certification required; a bid offering general workwear would be technically compliant with this notice and useless on a fireground. And asbestos suits are no longer manufactured — modern proximity suits use aluminised fabrics — so that line needs confirming rather than quoting literally.
