SUPPLY AND DELIVERY OF SAND AND GRAVEL
The City of Bulawayo wants 83 200 tonnes of sand, stone and gravel delivered to its Roads Yard over 50 days — 10 000 tonnes each of river sand, pit sand, crusher run and three stone sizes, plus quarry dust. Bids close 6 October 2026 at 11:45 CAT.
One of the largest aggregate orders on the board. Nine lines, 83 200 metric tonnes in total, delivered to the City of Bulawayo Roads Yard. The stone is 10 000 tonnes each of 13mm, 10mm and 7mm, plus 8 000 tonnes of 19mm and 5 000 tonnes of pitching stone. The sands and fills are 10 000 tonnes each of river sand and pit sand, 10 200 tonnes of quarry dust and 10 000 tonnes of crusher run. This is quarry-scale supply. At that tonnage you need production capacity, a fleet or a haulage contract, and the working capital to run deliveries against 50 days. The realistic bidders are quarries and large materials suppliers rather than general merchants. What is not published is the grading standard for each product, the delivery schedule within the 50 days, or whether the tonnages are firm or estimates drawn against as needed. On a contract this size, whether you must be able to deliver all of it or only what is called for is the central commercial question. This is competitive bidding with 90-day bid validity, so pricing must hold for three months on a commodity where fuel costs move.
