Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe Zvataida Rural District Council (Taxi-cab) By-laws, 2025
UMP Zvataida taxi permits cost US$50 a year plus US$20 to apply, with US$55 fines for operating without a permit or blocking a passenger's choice of taxi, and US$10 a month for late renewal.
These by-laws licence taxi-cabs in the Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe Zvataida Rural District Council area. A council operator's permit is required, taxis may only stop and rank at designated places and use designated routes, and a driver may not prevent a passenger from engaging another taxi.
The permit is cancelled on a traffic conviction, must be displayed and produced on demand, and the driver must wear the council badge; permit and badge are surrendered within 14 days of ceasing work or of suspension or cancellation, with duplicates issued on payment. A council official may order a dirty or badly maintained taxi off the road.
Fees are US$20 a year to apply, US$50 a year for the permit, US$50 to renew, US$10 for the driver's badge and US$15 to replace a lost badge or licence.
Penalties are US$55 each for operating a taxi without a council permit and for preventing a passenger from engaging another taxi, US$50 each for plying for hire from an undesignated rank and for allowing an unlicensed person to drive, US$10 each for failing to display a fare tariff and for operating a filthy taxi, US$10 a month for late renewal, and US$5 each for failing to produce the permit on request and failing to wear the driver's badge. A contravention may also lead to impoundment of the vehicle or cancellation of the permit.
