FINANCE AMENDMENT OF 22H OF FINANCE ACT Regulations, 2025
From 9 May 2025 the strategic reserve levy is US$0,187 per litre of diesel and US$0,247 per litre of petrol.
Made under section 3 of the Finance Act, these regulations replace section 22H(1) of that Act — the strategic reserve levy — with a single rate for each fuel, with effect from 9 May 2025.
The levy chargeable under section 36H of the Income Tax Act is US$0,1870 per litre of diesel and US$0,2470 per litre of petrol.
The levy is collected on fuel entering the market and feeds directly into pump prices, so hauliers, transport operators and fuel retailers should date landed diesel costs from 9 May 2025.
The rate was disturbed later in the year: S.I. 106 of 2025 set diesel at US$0,157 for the period 21 August to 3 September 2025 before restoring US$0,187 from 4 September, with petrol unchanged throughout at US$0,2470.
