Proclamation 1 of 2025
A by-election is called for Glen View South after the death of MP Grandmore Hakata — the nomination court sits on 13 March 2025 and polling, if needed, is on 12 April 2025.
The President has proclaimed a by-election for the Glen View South constituency in the National Assembly. The seat fell vacant on the death of Honourable Grandmore Hakata on 23 January 2025, and the Speaker of Parliament notified the President in writing on 6 February 2025.
The nomination court sits on Thursday 13 March 2025, commencing at 10 o'clock in the morning, at the Magistrates Court, Rotten Row, Harare, to receive nominations of candidates.
If a poll becomes necessary under section 46(17)(c) of the Electoral Act, it will be taken on Saturday 12 April 2025.
Prospective candidates and their agents should work back from the nomination date: papers, nomination fees and supporting signatures all have to be in order on the day the court sits, and a nomination court that has risen cannot be reopened. The proclamation was given under the President's hand and the Public Seal on 20 February 2025 and gazetted on 21 February 2025.
