Plumtree Town occupation of Council Property By-laws, 2025
Plumtree sets council property rents: US$3 083,45 a year for a base station, US$500 a month for the GMB warehouse and heavy industry sites, US$200 for shops and bottle stores, US$30 a room residential — and US$120 for subletting.
These by-laws govern who may occupy Plumtree Town council property and on what terms. No one may reside in or occupy council property without a registered lease, and no one may live there as a tenant, spouse or dependant unless registered in the council's records and holding a council document evidencing registration. The responsible officer keeps a register of every unit with the lease, rent, particulars of the holder, dependants and income, and the by-laws provide for leases, rent and service charges, changes of particulars, orders to vacate and abandoned property.
Rents are set property by property. A base station costs US$3 083,45 a year. At US$500 a month are the GMB warehouse at Stand 91 Mill Road, heavy industry sites, the council workshop at Stand 78 leased to Allied Petroleum, and the Public Service Pension Agency premises at Stand 270 Rodwell Road. The Ministry of Youth and the Ministry of SMEs pay US$380 a month at the same address. Wholesale LP gas stands cost US$200 a month and retail US$60; Mathendele butchery, bottle store and grocery shops US$200 each; Econet's solar panel site at Stand 493 Mengwe US$267; branded kiosks US$60; and car washes US$30. Residential property is charged at US$30 per room per month, and the application fee and reserved CBD parking are printed as nil.
Contravention carries a fine or eviction. The penalty schedule prints subletting council property at US$120 and obstructing an authorised official at US$0,00. Amounts are payable in local currency at the interbank rate and exclude VAT.
